Taught private lessons to students of varying backgrounds and abilities for 20 years. Used a variety of methods and techniques in my instruction, including Bastien, Suzuki, John Thompson, Faber & Faber, and Alexander.

Taught high school and middle school chorus, middle school general music, and elementary music for a K-12 private Christian school in rural Caldwell County, NC. Took high school students to their first NCMEA festival in 8 years and received an Excellent rating. Planned songs and skits for PTA meetings. Planned and led music for commencement services. Led 3rd and 4th grade students in writing their own operatic adaptation of Peter Pan. In addition to music responsibilities, assisted with weekly chapel services, elementary reading, and high school physical education. Coached women's and men's varsity volleyball in the 2005 season and assisted with scorekeeping and other duties with the basketball teams.

For my student teaching experience (required for K-12 licensure in North Carolina,) I taught for a semester at Pumpkin Center Middle School in Lincolnton, NC with Joanna Underwood as my supervising teacher. She taught chorus, band, and general music. Although my training was mostly in vocal music, I was grateful for the opportunity to work with band and general music classes. Together, we took the chorus and band classes to NCMEA festivals, where they received Excellent ratings. We worked on concerts for the PTA as well as combined with the local high school. I received the highest grade possible for this internship, and gained much from this opportunity.

Worked as an accompanist, musical director, and featured musician for weddings, funerals, auditions, concerts, and musical theater productions, including accompanying with Hickory Community Theater and serving as a musical director for Gaston Day School's production of Fiddler on the Roof and for the annual Drama Camp with the Lincoln Theatre Guild.
